RELENTLESS
Objective
We will be relentless in living authentic faith in Christ, seeking God in prayer, giving sacrificially, and witnessing to others.
Scripture Passage
Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you endured in a great conflict full of suffering. Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution, at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated. You suffered along with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions. So do not throw away your confidence. It will be richly rewarded.
You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For, “In just a little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay.”
And, “But my righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back.”
But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved. – Hebrews 10:32-39
Watchword
But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved. – Hebrews 10:39
COMMIT TO BEING RELENTLESS
As we commit to live relentless lives in the coming year, let us look to heroes of the faith who have gone before us as examples and encouragement, and be strengthened by the words of Hebrews 10:39. Lord, we commit to being relentless – relentless in living authentic faith.
Help our faith be uncompromising like Noah, who built an ark in the face of opposition and ridicule, believing You would send rain before a drop fell from the sky.
Help our faith be unwavering like Abraham, who left his home and his people for a land he had never seen, believing You would provide for his every need.
Help us to be resolved in our faith like Paul, who, after meeting Jesus on the road to Damascus, resolved to proclaim Your name as the promised messiah.
For we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved.
Lord, we commit to being relentless – relentless in seeking You in prayer.
Help us to be ceaseless in prayer like Daniel, who did not stop praying even when the law forbid him to pray.
Help us to be steadfast in prayer like David, who prayed through enemy attacks, personal failures, and family hardships.
Help us to be immovable in prayer like Hannah, who cried out in prayer, trusting You would answer.
For we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved.
Lord, we commit to being relentless – relentless in giving sacrificially.
Help us to be as determined in our giving as the widow who gave her very last coins to the work of the Lord.
Help us to be as purposeful in our giving as the early church in Acts who saw the needs around them and joined together to meet those needs.
Help us to be as fixed in our giving as Micah, who called on the people to bring a tithe into the storehouse and then saw God multiply it beyond their expectations.
For we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved.
Lord, we commit to being relentless – relentless in witnessing to others.
Help us to be unstoppable in our witness like Philip, who crossed cultural boundaries to share the gospel with the Ethiopian man.
Help us to be unshakable in our witness like Peter, who boldly proclaimed the gospel despite being accused and arrested.
Help us to be single-minded and persistent in our witness like the missionaries who have gone before us. Focus our minds on the calling to share the gospel and not on the challenges that come our way.
For we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved. Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith (Heb. 10:39, 12:1-2a).
